Paul Celan (23 November 1920, Cernăuţi, Bukovina, Kingdom of Romania, current Chernivtsi, Ukraine - c. 20 April 1970, Paris) was a poet and translator. He was born as Paul Antschel into a Jewish family in Romania, becoming one of the major German-language poets of the post-World War II era.

"Only one thing remained reachable, close and secure amid all losses: language. Yes, language. In spite of everything, it remained secure against loss. But it had to go through its own lack of answers, through terrifying silence, through the thousand darknesses of murderous speech. It went through. It gave me no words for what was happening, but went through it. Went through and could resurface, 'enriched' by it all."

Collecting - Mail Art Project

Thousands of people have special collections which vary from stamps, coins, wrappers of cigars to meaningful words and fond memories. Why do we collect? And how? Many contemporary artists use ‘collecting’ to visualise their artistic concept. They also have the ability to put the principles of collecting into one postcard. The third part of Play van Abbe was about collecting. This was an inspiration for the library exhibition Collecting – Mail Art Project.

For Mail Art project Miranda Vissers has asked interested artists to contribute to this project by means of a postcard, attuned to the theme of collecting. This resulted in more than 250 submissions: postcards, drawings, etchings, paintings, collages, photographic and textile works. All Mail Art works are exhibited in the showcases of the library of the Van Abbemuseum and on the weblog. Also a selection of the Mail Art archives of the museum and the organisers is exhibited. The catalogue shows one work of each artist

PEACE

As the frame that encloses the surface of a painting, a window can be defined as a border, according to Helio Fervenza as a "device that produces the separation of spaces which would be assigned a different status." By linking these spaces, "the sign that is the edge, does not define anything in a rigorous way, he states:" this is an artifact of presentation, while being "included and excluded from the space provided, allowing us to conclude that a curtain would be both a ceiling and a "passing place" or an instrument of mediation between the interior space, occupied by the statement - PEACE - and outer space.
The work PEACE makes the boundaries of the gallery leaking to the world in perpetuity; overflowing move to other situations - not necessarily art - making art constantly visible to the public: closeing the Curtain comes a new exhibition that gives back to the art space, opening up the street, interfering subtly in urban space.
Vertical strips of red fabric to hatch window, warming the gray curtains, making the statement, which can only be decrypted with the distance: a sign that now emerges from the interior and yells to horizontal gaze through the message of peace - necessarily greater the passerby. According to history, Jesus Christ himself once said: "I leave you my peace, my peace I give unto you." There would be no humanity without this little three-letter word.

Ship of Fools

Mail art is a worldwide cultural movement that began in the early 1960s and involves sending visual art (but also music, sound art, poetry, etc.) through the international postal system. Mail Art is also known as Postal Art or Correspondence Art. The term networking is often used to describe Mail Art activities, based on the principles of barter and equal one-to-one collaboration.

After a peak in popularity in the late 1980s and early 1990s, the Mail Art phenomenon has gradually migrated to the Internet, whose “social networks” were largely anticipated and predicted by the interactive processes of postal collaborations. Nevertheless, Mail Art is still practiced in the new Millennium by a loose planetary community involving thousands of mailartists from the most varied backgrounds.

At this time I participate in a group exhibition, which is called "Portrait Author," where various artists performed their picture with the technique of woodcut.

Casa Andrade Muricy - MAC, inaugurated in June 26, 1998, is an exhibition space of the Ministry of Culture of Parana, Brazil. Conducts exhibitions of contemporary visual arts, national and international exhibitions and also of historical significance. It is a unique space for exhibitions and has no collection of works of art.

On the same occasion, there will be exhibition called "plot" of the German artist Gerhard Richter.

This work was produced when I finished the faculty of arts. The array is a single plank of wood worked horizontally. This woodcut was printed by hand with a wooden spoon. The picture tells the story of Elijah, the biblical prophet.

"Entrelinguas" is the dynamic process of an event that comes between accents from different cultures. In this context, independent of the native language of each participant will open up opportunities for recognition and relationship between signs, decoding as well, matter and image.
Subscribed to different categories of manifestations to artistic creations, the signs raise the senses and transcend the verbosity.
The physical contact provided by the finding of six Brazilian works (southern) and ten foreign, is a cultural exchange that discusses the language. Works produced with different techniques, designed for national and foreign artists are brought together in the building that houses the School of Languages "Idiomass.

Enjoying the celebrations of Easter Week, I present here a work done on commission, last year. The work was born from a reflection on the theme of the last supper that Christ had with his disciples. What was very difficult to accomplish something that had not yet been done, since this topic is very current in art history. Therefore I chose to use a view plongée. In this picture you can see the process of working with their indecision and corrections that contribute to the final result.

Celebrating 20 years of the fall of Berlin wall

By chance, I've found this week on my drawer this old drawing:

The Brandenburg Gate is a former city gate and one of the main symbols of Berlin in Germany. It was commissioned by King Frederick William II of Prussia as a sign of peace and built by Carl Gotthard Langhans from 1788 to 1791. Today, it is considered one of Europe's most famous landmarks.

This time we occupated an ancient building that has been a pasta's factory. 74 artists exhibiting his art in six floors. Thanks Pellegrin for the call.

This work was done with acrylic paint and plenty of water, inspired by a Chinese technique called Lavis. This is a question about the banality of contemporary image, so I chose the theme of the rough images produced endlessly by the security cameras.
The result is a kind of altarpiece divided into nine small paintings that juxtaposed form the set called Surveillance. Each display features with small measures 55 x 85 cm.

Fourth International Biennial of Mini Prints - Tetovo 2008




The launch of this associate with us, The Fourth International Mini-print Graphics 2007 - according to the tradition on doorsteps by the entrance to the Europen Union, we are meditating as a cosmopolite. The troubles in this regions are as same as they are in all countries. The culturals and traditions autochthonous, are endangered by the recently urbanized man who is looking for to reclaim the heritage. New age named “The architecture of the new time” indeed is consequence from a mathematical function which doesn’t look after to the captured space. Macedonia have had over four thousand archaeological area from: early neolith, classical, roman, up to late middle century. How can we preserve them? The battle against trading with antiques and ”businessmen” is the biggest problem of all countries from the third world. As it’s with ours. “The rich” always find the way how to get what do they want in. The past, present and the future are the one’s nations identity. We are actively seeking for:to work on popularization to the diversity of one another to one after the other, and with your graphics to send a massage for: LET’S PROVIDE THE PROTECTION OF SMALL NATIONS’ CULTURAL HERITAGE!

To this exhibition, each artist submited five prints and one of the prints remained as property of “Museum of Tetovo Area”. In my case, they chose this one. Artists from more than 50 nations take part in that Biennial.

I like to organise exhibitions of small format printmaking in alternative spaces. This one happened in Santa Catarina, Brazil, on a artist's conference, where I received a nice white wall beside the theater to expose 20 original mini prints.
